สวนสัตว์นครราชสีมาเป็นสวนสัตว์แห่งเดียวของภูมิภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของประเทศไทย นอกจากนั้นยังได้ชื่อว่าเป็นสวนสัตว์ที่ทันสมัยและได้มาตรฐานที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในทวีปเอเชีย ซึ่งมีแนวคิดในการดำเนินงานแบบสมัยใหม่ โดยเน้นเรื่องความเป็นอยู่ที่สุขสบายของสัตว์ป่า ด้วยการจัดพื้นที่ให้มีสภาพใกล้เคียงกับธรรมชาติถิ่นที่อยู่เดิมของสัตว์ต่างๆมากที่สุด สวนสัตว์แห่งนี้มีสมาชิกทั้งสิ้นกว่า 700 ตัวหลากสายพันธุ์ ทั้งที่เป็นสัตว์บก สัตว์ปีก สัตว์เลื้อยคลาน และสัตว์น้ำ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งสัตว์ป่าจากทวีปแอฟริกาที่หาชมได้ยาก

การเที่ยวชมสวนสัตว์นั้นมีหลายรูปแบบ หากชอบออกกำลังกายอาจเลือกขี่จักรยาน หรือเดินไปตามทางซึ่งตกแต่งภูมิทัศน์ไว้อย่างสวยงาม แต่ถ้าชอบความสะดวกสบายควรใช้บริการรถไฟเล็กขบวนน่ารักที่วิ่งวนบริการตลอดทั้งวัน ภายในสวนสัตว์ยังจัดสรรพื้นที่สารธารณะสำหรับการพักผ่อนหย่อนใจของทุกคนในครอบครัว อาทิ ลานน้ำพุ สวนไดโนเสาร์ สวนสัตว์เด็ก ภัตตาคาร ร้านขายของที่ระลึก อาคารนิทรรศการ และศูนย์ประชาสัมพันธ์

Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo

In educational terms, a zoo is like a naturally created classroom open to visitors of all ages, especially young children bursting with curiosity.

Taking a family trip to the zoo, on the weekend, can therefore be an enriching experience and one in which children aspire to learn about animals in an environment that is both clean and pleasing to the eye. Clearly, it is also more economical that going into the jungle to seek out animals in their natural habitats.

Apart from being the only zoo in Thailand’s northeastern region, Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo is also one of the most modern in Asia with up-to- date standards of operation.

With a new operational approach, the zoo has provided animals with comfortable surroundings by creating environmental conditions as close as possible to the animals’ natural habitats. The zoo is home to over 700 different species including land animals, birds, reptiles and aquatic creatures as well as wild animals from Africa scarcely found elsewhere.

Visitors have the choice of different modes of transport to view the zoo. Those who enjoy a sport of exercise can take a bicycle or enjoy a walk along beautifully landscaped surroundings. For comfort and convenience there is a compact train service, running all day, offering a picturesque view of the zoo.

Inside there is something for everyone in the family to do. An area is set aside as a public park for visitors to rest and relax with a water fountain plaza, dinosaur park, children’s playground, restaurant, souvenir shop, an exhibition hall and a public relations center.
