วันลอยกระทง (by Supachok Chuenwongsa)

วันลอยกระทงมีตำนานว่า พระสนมเอกของพระร่วงได้เป็นคนคิดประดิษฐ์กระทงเพื่อถวายพระร่วง พอพระร่วงทอดพระเนตรเห็น ก็ให้ทำกระทงเช่นนี้ในวันนักขัตฤกษ์ หรือวันเพ็ญเดือน 12 ซึ่งการลอยกระทงก็เพื่อบูชาพระแม่คงคา และรอยพระพุทธบาทที่อยู่ริมแม่น้ำนันทนที เมื่อวันที่ 8 พฤศจิกายนที่ผ่านมาเป็นวันลอยกระทง ตอนเช้าฉันจึงตักบาตร และตอนเย็นฉันก็ไปลอยกระทงที่ฟาร์มจระเข้ ซึ่งจุดประสงค์ของการลอยกระทงมีหลายอย่างเช่น ขอขมาพระแม่คงคา ที่เราใช้น้ำท่านดื่มท่านกิน และฉันก็ใช้วัสดุที่ย่อยสลายง่าย เพื่อที่จะไม่ทำลายสิ่งแวดล้อม ตอนที่ฉันเงยหน้าขึ้นไปบนท้องฟ้า ฉันเห็นพระจันทร์เต็มดวง ซึ่งสวยงามมาก และน้ำตามตลิ่งต่างๆก็เต็ม จนสะดวกที่จะลอยกระทง เมื่อฉันลอยกระทงเสร็จ ฉันก็ไปดูการประกวดนางนพมาศและหนูน้อยนพมาศด้วย

The legend of Loy Krathong started when the King's concubine (Towsrijularluk) made a krathong for the King (Pra Rongjow). That krathong was made from banana leaves and it had many flowers. The King saw the krathong and said "We will make krathong an annual holiday on the12th full moon every year".

We float a krathong because we want to thank the goddess of water for the clean water. On 8 November this year it was Loy Krathong's day. In the morning, I made merit by putting food into a monk's bowl. In the evening, I floated my krathong in the Crocodile farm and I played fireworks too. I went to the town hall to watch Noppamas beauty contest. That night, I had fun and had a nice dream.
