Learning Thai the Easy Way! > Speaking Thai > Singing the King Anthem

In Thailand, we have a national anthem which is played at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day. But, we also have a King's Anthem which people will hear most often at the start of a movie when they go to the cinema.

(khaa wor-ra put-tha-jao aow ma-no lae si-ra gran)

  "We, Your Majesty's loyal subjects, Pay homage with deep-felt veneration,

(nop pra poom-mi baan boon ya di rake)

  To the supreme Protector of the Realm,

(aek ba-rom ma jug rin phra sa-yaa min)

  The mightiest of monarchs complete with transcendent virtues,

(phra yot-sa ying yong yen si ra phraw phra bor-ri baan)

  Under whose benevolent rule, we, Your subjects,

(phon phra khoon-tha ruk saa puang pra cha ben sook saan)

  Receive protection and happiness, Prosperity and peace;

(khor bun daan tha pra song dai jong sa-rit dung whang wor-ra-ha reu thai)

  And we wish that whatsoever Your Majesty may desire,

(doot ja tha-wai chai chai yo)
  The same may be fulfilled."
