A hundred
scouts and three teachers on a camping trip were treated
in hospital yesterday for food poisoning.
The boys
and girls had been camping at a resort in Klaeng district
when they started vomiting and complained of abdominal
cramps and diarrhoea after breakfast yesterday morning.
Three of
their teachers suffered the same symptoms.
"None
of them is in danger now," said the director
of Rayong Hospital, Chaisit Pinyowittayakul, later.
He said that local public-health officials were checking
whether the fried rice and soya milk served for breakfast
had been contaminated.
Of the
103 scouts and teachers taken to hospital only 13
were admitted.
Tara Plianbangchang,
deputy director of Baan Klong Luang School in Samut
Prakan, said he had taken 223 Grade-6 students and
23 teachers for a camping trip in Rayong. Not all
the students or teachers at the camp developed food
poisoning symptoms. |
