Learning Thai the Easy Way! > Reading Thai > Special rules for "Í" (aor aang)

There are four words where the low class consonant " Â " is changed to a middle class consonant by putting a silent "Í" in front of it. We had to learn these at school.

ÍÂèÒ yaa do not
ÍÂÙè yoo to live, to stay
ÍÂèÒ§ yang kind, sort of
ÍÂÒ¡ yaak to want

Two of the above are homonyms (sound the same) and are used with the silent " Ë ".

ËÂèÒ yaa divorce
ËÂÒ¡(äÂè) yaak (yai) cobwebs
