Learning Thai the Easy Way > Sending SMS to Thailand

You can now send SMS (text messages) to mobile phones in Thailand. We recommend using the services of siamzone.com. This is free for you but the receiver might have to pay a small fee. All of the instructions are in Thai so we will give you some help here.

The above is only a graphic from the web site. The actual form is further down this page.

1. Choose the code for the mobile phone (01 06 07 or 09 ).
2. Type in the mobile phone number. You don't have to type the country code here.
3. Your name in English only
4. Type your message here in English or Thai
5. This shows how many characters you have left
6. When you have finished, click the button to the left.

Please note, some mobile phones might not be able to receive text in Thai. After you have clicked on the "submit" button, the page will refresh and you will get one of the following reports below:

1. This is the number you used
2. This is your message and name
3. This is the report which says 'song dai' meaning it was sent OK.
4. This one says you didn't type in enough numbers for the telephone number. There should be seven numbers.
5. The first part, 'song mai dai' tells you that the message couldn't be sent. In this case the code doesn't match the number so maybe you used the wrong network.
6. This one is also 'song mai dai'. This time there was a problem with the phone. They advise you to wait one minute before trying again.

The following is the form you can use to send SMS to someone in Thailand. If you cannot see this form, click here to go straight to that web site.
